A posture exercise program for women aged 50+
Posture Perfect with weekly fitness classes followed by seminars will be delivered to women aged 50+ who seek services from the Richmond Women’s Resource Centre. Individuals in attendance are concerned about their increasingly poor posture due to increasingly sedentary behaviors that occur with age. Participants will leave each class motivated to employ postural techniques in everyday living and will look forward to returning the following week to further develop muscles involved in maintaining good posture.
What are the benefits of maintaining a good posture?
- Empower individuals on how to prevent injuries associated with spinal curve deviations using exercise techniques.
- Deliver weekly exercise sessions stabilizing and mobilizing muscles surrounding key joint areas to maintain good posture, maintain independence and prevent injuries with age.Offer practical information on how to sit, stand and perform activities of daily living with efficiency while educating individuals on the impacts and causes of poor posture.
- Provide theoretical and applied knowledge through weekly seminars discussing the importance of good posture for lifelong health.
What to expect from the program?
- 90-minute classes with weekly exercise (60 mins) and seminar-style education (30mins) sessions
- high-quality level of instruction on what types of exercises are most suitable for individual needs and how to perform exercises with safe and correct technique.

- Educational seminars will be delivered through a variety of styles (ie: lecture, workshop, assessment, etc.)
