Did you know?
Despite its many health, environmental, social and other benefits – cycling and community group cycling faces a notable gender disparity. Statistics indicate a significant underrepresentation in women cyclists worldwide, with 3-4 times more men cycling on roads.
RWRC has always had the mandate to offer innovative, empowering and health-promoting experiences for Richmond women. Supporting women to feel confident and safe cycling in our community is also environmentally friendly and community building.
Stay Tuned for our next post – we are excited to announce that our first ever RWRC Beginner’s Group Cycling Course for Women launches next week! In the meantime, we have been supporting our enthusiastic participants with a City of Richmond Beginners Bike Skills workshop to get them started “on the road” to cycling success!
Here are some pictures of some of our RWRC participants – Helen, Cindy and Phoebe “breaking barriers” (as we call our cycling program) and getting ready for our upcoming Beginner Group Cycling Series for Women.
RWRC gratefully acknowledges funding support from the Richmond Cares Richmond Gives Richmond Community Foundation (RCF). We appreciate RCF helping us help more women experience the many benefits of community group cycling, (and deal with gender disparity in any and all settings where we find it continues to exist). Thank you Richmond Community Foundation!
