Group Cycling is a wonderful, environmentally friendly, social activity that has so many health and other potential benefits. Unfortunately, cycling faces a notable gender disparity and statistics indicate there are 3-4 times more men than women cycling on our roads.
At RWRC, we want to support more Richmond women to experience the many benefits of group cycling so that they can feel confident and safe riding in our community and can experience the many benefits. We are thrilled to be launching a new Women’s Beginner Cycling Program, and are delighted to introduce our wonderful team:
Our experienced ride leader is: Siobhann Williamson. Siobhann is an NCCP certified Cycling Coach, specializing in recreational cyclists. Siobhann has coached Whistler Gran Fondo Clinics for Beginner Women, is a Ride Leader for WOWRIDE women’s cycling, and a Learning Facilitator for Cycling BC. We are so lucky to be working with Siobhann!
All participants will have bike and helmet rentals provided by Village Bikes in Steveston. Village Bikes is a long-standing, locally owned full service community minded bike shop. Experienced Manager Graeme will help us with bike rentals, bike fits and more! Thank you, Village Bikes!
Thanks as well to Cycling BC – a great resource for connecting us to the right people so this program could really happen!
Finally, our thanks again to Richmond Cares Richmond Gives and the Richmond Community Foundation (RCF) for grant funding to make this program possible.
You can see, it truly takes a Village! And speaking of Villages, we will be riding around beautiful Steveston Village!
For registration enquiries or to join the waitlist please call 604 279 7060 or office@richmondwomenscentre.org. You must be a Richmond resident, RWRC participant, other conditions apply.
Excited for next week and the launch of this new program!
