And they are off! The first session of our Women’s Beginner Group Cycling Program happened last week, and by all accounts it was a lot of fun and a great success!
Cyclists met up at Village Bikes in Steveston and with the expert help of Manager Graeme Burns – everyone was sorted and fitted with the right bikes and helmets – thank you Graeme!
Our wonderful Cycle Leader Siobhann Williamson went over the basics of bike safety – riding in straight line, hand signals, stopping and all the “getting started” basics. Siobhann even had water bottles and cycling gear for everyone to share. It couldn’t have been a more successful launch! Heartfelt thanks for sharing all your skills, expertise and community support Siobhann – you are amazing!
We wanted to introduce another member of the cycling team – we are so lucky to have a “sweep rider” – an experienced cyclist who works with our cycle leader to make sure no cyclist is left behind – our sweep rider is local realtor Patti Martin! Thank you Patti, for supporting this program, and helping getting more women in Richmond cycling!
And much appreciation too for our Admin staff Betty – who takes attendance, photos and just makes sure everything runs very smoothly!
No surprise – this wonderful program is full! But we are thrilled to be able to offer it and will certainly hope to do more in the future! Please follow us for news of upcoming workshops and events!
Thanks Again to Richmond Community Foundation for your funding support to make this all possible!
